How to a Analyze a Series with GeoProfile

Step One: Learn About Geographic Profiling

While extensive training is not required to use GeoProfile, a little background reading will ensure investigators submit the series properly and make the most of the profile in their investigation:

• Before submitting a series for analysis by GeoProfile, please review the Entry Guidelines.
• To correctly interpret and apply a geographic profile to an investigation, please review this short overview of geographic profiling.

Step Two: Sign up for a GeoProfile Account

Click here to sign up for a GeoProfile account at Bair Software. Upon approval of your account, you will receive an email with instructions on how to log in to a web interface where you can upload your series.

Step Three: Upload Your Series Using the Web Interface

Save all the incidents in a series to a separate file using one of the following formats: Excel, Access, text (comma separated values) or ATAC. Using the web interface, upload the file and map the columns to the appropriate GeoProfile fields. Check the box that indicates your agreement to be billed $49 for the series and click the submit button.

Step Four: View Your Geographic Profile in GeoProfile

As soon as GeoProfile finishes importing and analyzing your profile, you will receive an email with instructions on how to log in to GeoProfile at www.geoprofile.com. A geographic profiling expert will review your geographic profile as soon as possible to ensure that the series was imported and analyzed correctly. As a result, you may notice slight adjustments to your profile if you login immediately and then login a few hours later. You will be contacted if any major changes needed to be made to your profile.
