ATAC 2008 Now includes a Mapping Module

Since our last contact with you many new and exciting features have been added to ATAC. We created a new "ATAC Map" module for ATAC that not only allows for basic pin mapping, but also the ability to do hotspot maps (density analysis) with ONE click of the mouse!  We also added the "Quick Expression" module to help you search for words, phrases, or other Regular Expressions against your data.  We are very excited to provide you these new ATAC features, and we hope that you see that Bair Software is absolutely committed to delivering to you the most powerful and easy to use crime analysis program available.

The ATAC Map module.  With this new mapping capability, users can immediately view the results of any data (Excel, Access, ATAC, RMS data, etc.) containing X and Y coordinates against their ESRI Shapefiles. And, with just one click of the mouse, ATAC will use its optimized density function to automatically identify hotspots. ATAC Map also provides the ability to select rows in the grid and see those highlighted rows on the map. Or, select points on the map and then see or query those records in the grid. In addition to the ATAC Map functions, ATAC also provides the ability to export a selection of any data to Google Earth for quick viewing! If you don’t have x/y data, use ATAC’s Google Address function to locate the address and recover the x/y values. ATAC Map is not intended to replace your GIS but was created to be a powerful visualization tool and to overcome many of the limitations found in today’s GIS applications.

The Quick Expression module. With prior ATAC versions, you had to create a Concept in order to execute a Regular Expression (RegEx) search against your data. Now, with the Quick Expression module, you can quickly search for a word, phrase, or other Regular Expression against any data! Moreover, you can use the Quick Expression module to test expressions against sample text.

Thanks to all of those who contributed to this newest version with you comments and suggestions.  Keep them coming!

ATAC 2008 FEATURES:

  • Quickly switch between primary and relational mode with one push of the button.

  • Enhanced date/time handling.

  • ATAC can now highlight rows in any writable database containing a “selected” variable. Include a yes/no variable in your data to enable you to highlight, promote, and select against the highlighted rows.

  • ATAC now includes a magnifier window to zoom and improve your ability to read any part of the screen including the map and regular expressions.

  • Numerous ‘quick keys’ for easy functionality:

    • “CTRL + S”  -  Loads the statistics module.

    • “CTRL + M" - Loads the ATAC Map module.

    • "CTRL + T" - Loads the Time Series Analysis module.

    • "CTRL + G" - Displays your tabular data in Google Earth

  • Ability to modify the COMPSTAT report and export to RTF.

  • Quickly sort in ascending or descending any highlighted column or columns by right-clicking and selecting from the popup menu.

SPATIAL ANALYSIS FEATURES

  • Visualize tabular data using any x/y data.

  • Measure distance in Euclidian and Manhattan distances.

  • Calculate hotspot analysis with the push of a button.

  • Density is optimized to identify hotspots in data from any zoom level.

  • Immediate viewing in Google Earth using tabular x/y decimal degree data.  All the records’ tabular attributes are carried over and available in Google Earth. Export any data to Google Earth kml files.

  • Click on any cell containing an address in any tabular data format and immediately view in Google Maps against street or aerial photography.

  • Click an address to recover the x and y coordinates for later export to your GIS or Google Earth.

DATA MINING FEATURES

  • Type any value and have ATAC search any data and any variable. Unlike SQL, there’s no need to designate a variable to search. ATAC automatically searches across all values in all variables in any data. The Quick Expression module uses the powerful RegEx language to provide yet another data mining capability within ATAC.

  • Perform proximity searches by typing an expression as simple as this: “copper within 5 words of pipe and separated by 0 words.”

  • Filter Bar: Right-click a cell to quickly append the current cell’s value to the existing filter bar query.

  • Concepts can now be scheduled for automatic searches on your data. Receive an email from ATAC when it scans your databases off-line and identifies a concept or expression. For example, receive an email each time the word “GPS” is found within the same record as “theft” and have that record’s identifier or case number emailed to the detective automatically.

  • Scheduled concepts can be set to run against any data type including your RMS.

TEMPORAL ANALYSIS FEATURES

  • Several new temporal analysis capabilities including weekly, monthly and calendar analysis.

  • Additional options with the temporal topologies including bar display.

REPORTING FEATURES

  • Dozens of new analytical reports.

  • Enhanced COMPSTAT functions to include the ability to modify the titles and vary the output statistics.

  • Additional statistical functions including: year to date comparison, hourly, daily, weekly and monthly averages.

  • COMPSTAT now provides the ability to export to RTF files.

  • Over 100 reports now available.
