Courses range from one to five days, and can be private, or you can receive free seats if you open the course to other agencies.

Crime Mapping & Analysis using ArcGIS 9.2 (Introductory)

Tactical and Operational AnalysisTaught by internationally-recognized experts with more than three decades of combined crime mapping experience, this one-week class will provide students with a complete understanding of the fundamentals of crime mapping.  Using the “Watch-Follow-Do” adult learning method and expanding on the award-winning Department of Justice CMAP curriculum, students will use their own data in addition to training data as they actually perform—and master—the techniques they are shown during this comprehensive class.

Tactical & Operational Crime Analysis using ArcGIS 9.2 (Advanced)

Tactical & Operation Crime AnalysisThis course focuses on the next generation of techniques for tactical and operational crime analysis. Applying the “Watch – follow – do” adult learning paradigm, this course is a significant expansion on the award-winning US Department of Justice CMAP curriculum developed by the same instructors. Students will use their own data to attack real-world tactical problems as they master advanced analytical techniques during the course. Topics covered in this intensive program of study include:

  • Movement-pattern identification and prediction
  • Advanced density analysis
  • Hunting ground identification
  • Activity space analysis
  • Decay function spatial profiling
  • Advanced spatiotemporal analysis methods

The level of difficulty for this course is appropriate for students who are already experienced using the ArcGIS software suite and are familiar with basic data handling skills.

Criminal Intelligence Analysis

This 40 hour, hands-on course will introduce students to the basic principles and techniques of intelligence analysis as applied to the world of professional law enforcement. Students will learn the legal and logical context of intelligence in policing, as well as the types of intelligence, process models, analytical thinking, and reasoning methods. Geographic mapping of intelligence-related data and timeline-plots will demonstrate how to analyze and forecast activity spatiotemporally.
